Rosey

~Tonight Dillan took a bath in his tub for the first time.  He LOVED it. He was able to just relax; moved his arms and legs around.  I was able to take a picture with my cell phone where he is actually smiling.

~Brandon bought me a dozen white roses for Valentine's Day.  (The lighting in the picture makes them look yellow, but they're white.)  They are so lovely and smell beautiful.  They just keep getting more gorgeous.

~I've been trying to carry Dillan around in this Sprout Pouch baby sling more.  It frees up my hands so that I'm able to get a few things done while still having him with me.  Brandon gave it a try and Dillan fell right to sleep with him.
Notice the receding hair line?  Tanner did the same thing and eventually lost it all. Came back nice and thick though.

One Month Old

Dillan turned 1 month old on February 17.  I'm going to try to take a picture of him in his crib, sleeping each month until he turns 1 year old.

2 Weeks
1 Month

~ We took Dillan to the clinic on Eielson on the 17th because he's been battling a diaper rash since he was 1.5 weeks old.  We were at Basset Army Hospital for his 2 week appointment and the pediatrician there had given us a tube of zinc oxide to put on the rash.  It didn't help, but it didn't get worse.  On the 15th the rash started getting worse so we stopped with the zinc and tried Vaseline for a day, it continued to get worse.  We started him on A & D and made an appointment for him to be seen... both Brandon and I were tired of dealing with the rash.  Of course, once the pediatrician on Eielson saw him we were treated like this was nothing to worry about.  We were told to dab, not wipe the area, to make a concoction of A&D, Desitine, Maalox, and an ointment similar to Neosporine and layer it on thick. 1.5 days later the rash is still there, not looking AS red, but at least not getting worse.  We were told if he got worse to bring him back in 2-3 days.  If it didn't get better in 2 weeks to bring him back... I hope it's cleared up LONG  before the 2 week mark.

Big Cardboard Box

Brandon replaced our water heater last weekend, and Tanner got a nice cardboard box out of the deal.  Brandon cut out a door, and a few notches in the box.  He fashioned door handles and called it good.  Tanner and I are always looking for projects during the week, so we colored on it with crayons, and used BINGO dabbers to decorate it.  We've got 2 walls partially colored on so far. Tanner loves trying to get the dogs to go into the fort with him.  He's really upset that his 4-wheeler can't fit into it though. :)

I can see using these for a lot of projects.

I see you!!!

"DUCKIE!!!"

~A little side note... these PJ's got retired this week. They had holes in them, and he has so many other PJ's it was silly for me to hold on to them.  I almost cried when I threw them away... I think they're the ones he wore the most since he hit the 2T size.

Valentine's Day Aurora

Brandon got home from work around 9pm this evening and told me that the Northern Lights were out.  He said it was way better out at base but he still came in, grabbed the camera and headed back outdoors to take a few shots.  He was able to get a few good pictures. I didn't edit them at all.  He messed with the exposure a bit.  The first two pictures depict the true color best.

I was able to see some of the lights from our bedroom window.  I wanted to go outside with Brandon, but I wasn't going to risk laying Dillan down, mid-feeding, to have him scream and wake Tanner up.  If I had been able to go outdoors, it would have been a romantic ending to our Valentine's Day. :)

The Past Four Weeks

Dillan is four weeks old today.  Time truly does fly when you're having fun, or extremely sleep deprived and days and nights all seem to mesh together.  Dillan's sleep habits are improving.  At night he wakes every 2 to 3 hours to nurse and get his diaper changed.  There have been a few occasions where he has slept 4 to 5 hours, but those aren't regular occurrences. There is no regular sleep pattern during the day.  He just nurses, sleeps, and has short stints of wakeful times... repeat, no sense of routine yet.

Dillan is a gassy little guy. Tanner likes to say "EEEEWWW!!!" after Dillan toots it up! I was talking to the pediatrician about it and told her "Tanner was never gassy like this." She informed me that it's normal and reminded me that this baby is not Tanner.  Tanner never had diaper rashes either, and that is something we're now dealing with as well.  The pediatrician gave us some zink oxide for it, but the cream hasn't had much affect yet.  Poor little butt.

The adjustment of adding another little human to our family hasn't been quite as hard on Tanner as I thought it'd be. I had anticipated lots of jealousy, tantrums, and just general acting up. Tanner is an awesome big brother.  He is always wanting to hold Dillan. He thinks it's his job to run into our room, where Dillan sleeps in his crib, to wake Dillan up in the morning and after he wakes from nap.  This can be frustrating, for Brandon and I, but we are learning to just roll with it.  When Dillan cries, Tanner runs to him and baby talks him in the sweetest little voice, or he runs to Brandon and I to let us know.  He likes to grab Dillan's wrists and point to his hands and then show us his own hands, same thing with the ears, and eyes.    We often hear "wee, wee, wee" and see that  Dillan's little piggies are getting played with if  they are poking out of a blankie.

Tanner has had a hard time with wanting to be held at the same time that Dillan is being held, or is nursing.  It's just as hard on Brandon and I as it is on Tanner. I miss being able to hold Tanner whenever he wants to be held.   Dillan does spend more time in the swing and bouncy chair than Tanner ever did, at this age.  I make it a point to get on the floor to play with Tanner, even if I have to nurse Dillan while doing so.Nap and bed times are something Tanner has started fighting more since Dillan's arrival, it could also just be his age though.  Tanner now wants to be in our room, since this is where Dillan's crib is, or he wants Dillan to sleep on the floor of his room while he sleeps in the crib.  When Dillan is a little older, and sleeping through the night, he'll get moved into Tanner's room.  Then we'll see how badly Tanner wants his little brother in his room. :)

Dillan is starting to look more and more like his brother to me.  He's got great big eyes, the same mouth and maybe even the same nose. I'm still not certain what color his eyes will be.  I would love for them to be dark brown like mine, since Tanner's eyes are just a tad darker than his daddy's, which are a shade of green.  Time will tell what color they turn out to be.

Dillan and I haven't left the house very many times since his birth.  When he does go out in public he's always got a cover over his car seat.  I'm a bit of a germ-a-phoebe when it comes to my baby.  Brandon and Tanner are constantly being told to wash their hands or put sanitizer on when they come home from one of their excursions.

Pretty Pictures

Topaz and Garnet birthstones for my boys

Kicking the Ball Around

Yesterday Brandon got a hold of his friend Matt. He and Daniel met us at the base gym so that the little guys could run and use up some stored energy!  Since watching his cousin Isaiah play soccer, Tanner has enjoyed kicking the ball around the house.  He had a blast with Daniel kicking and running after the ball on the gym's football field.

Anytime the boys got close to one another they stopped for a hug.

I've been using a new iPhone app called Instagram.  I'm pretty much in love with it.  Most of these pics have been edited using it.  If you have an iPhone get this app! :)
