Dillan's 6 Month Checkup

Dillan is 6 months old today and went in for his well baby checkup and shots. He is doing great. We won't have to go back in for another checkup until he is 9 months.

Not holding very still during measurements.
Weight: 16lb 7oz

Length: 26"

Head Circ: 43cm

Being checked out.
He has been eating sweet potatoes or squash, once a day, for about 2 weeks now. Today we started giving him rice cereal. He is a good eater and will eat anything put near his mouth.

He hasn't been doing all that great about sleeping through the night. I blame his constant teething. He is up to 5 little choppers now.

If Dillan wants to get somewhere he rolls over to it. It won't be long before he's doing the army crawl. He is kicking his legs and trying so hard to push himself around.

Partying Super Hero Style

My friend Liz's son, Brody, turns 3 this month and to celebrate he got a Super Hero Themed birthday party at the park in North Pole. We had a great time playing and visiting. Tanner was very excited to eat the cupcakes and watch Brody open presents.

Fielding Lake & Copper Center

Brandon had Thursday though Sunday off for the 4th of July weekend so we packed up for another camping adventure. Last year we didn't make it out camping even once, this was our second outing of the year, so we're on a roll.

Loaded and ready to go.

The first night we set up camp at Fielding Lake Campground, which is about 160 miles south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway.

Brandon and Tanner out for an evening canoe ride.
I love Tanner's face here.
So much of camping is about the food! My favorite meal this trip was an omlett. Maybe it was the preparing of the omlett that I enjoyed. A pot of water was brought to a boil over the coals, the eggs were squished in a baggie and then veggies and cheeses were added. The bags of eggs were thrown into the boiling water for 10-15 minutes and voila! OMLETTS!

We all went out into the canoe Friday morning. It was a short adventure; Dillan wasn't diggin' the life jacket and squirmed and screamed the entire time.

I'm glad that Dillan is still in the phase where he doesn't get crabby every time the camera comes out. He has some great toothy grins!

We spent Friday and Saturday night in Copper Center at the Groves Camp Ground on the Klutina River. Brandon did a little fishing during the boys' nap times and after the boys and I were in bed. The rest of our stay was spent taking walks, sitting around the camp fire and dodging raindrops... Oh, and eating!

The Mosquitos were FIERCE! We all came home with many, many bites.
The Trans-Alaska Pipeline follows the Richardson Highway and makes for some pretty cool photo ops. This was taken on our drive back home, somewhere before we got to Delta Junction.
Just north of Delta Junction our beloved truck broke down, leaving us stranded roadside. Thank the good Lord we had cell service in the area and were able to arrange for a tow truck and for a ride back home.

The problems are engine related and rather than dump a bunch of money into fixing it, we'll be selling the truck this week. :(

Dillan 24 Weeks

Dillan now has 5 teeth and has eaten 2 small meals of sweet potatoes that I baked and then pureed.  He is getting very talkative and playful.
He is such a cuddly little guy... with me.  When Brandon tries to put him to sleep or get some cuddle time, Dillan gets stiff and pulls away. It's only a phase, Tanner did the same thing around this age.
Dillan will cry wolf, every once in a while, when his big brother is near.  I'll go check on things and I know that Tanner has not done anything to harm Dillan.  Maybe Dillan is just warning Tanner that he better not mess with him!
